There are no spoilers for 4.13 – I wrote this before the episode aired and only took information from the trailer at the end of 4.12. So it’s very AU!

Rating: R just to be safe [for violence]
Warnings: Torture, character death (not Arthur or Merlin), battle-type violence, restraint (shackles).
Pairing: Arthur/Merlin
Length: ~5000

So you know how there are those films you cry buckets over when you're a kid? Well, for me they included such titles as Bambi, The Lion King and Black Beauty.

Quails!

Or more correctly - quail!

I wasn't expecting any to hatch as it's the first time I've tried to hatch eggs and generally everything went wrong... but the outcome's surprised me!

I have a bright, fluffy, yellow quail chick running around the incubator. S/he is so cute. Just a ball of yellow puff. Earlier the chick kept snuggling up with a bundle of unhatched eggs and I keep hoping that at least one more will hatch, just so s/he has a companion. Going to give the chick a little teddy bear or something anyway when I move her/him to the brooder, just to snuggle with if s/he wants.

I'm not counting on the other hatching, but fingers crossed! This one still needs a lot of care so will be keeping a good eye on her/him. One of her/his toes is bent which I think is probably an egg-deformation rather than it being broken, but it should straighten up. If it looks like its causing problems then I'll help it out, but otherwise I think I have another bird to add to the trio outside!

I'll post some pictures tomorrow when the chick's settled in ^^

Also, on a completely unrelated note, the amazing [livejournal.com profile] mightyprettyhas created a Merlin/Arthur fanvid to Lana Del Ray's Video Games. I'm in love with her and this video is amazing. Watch it here!

Okay so I don't usually rec things because I'm about ten years behind on things, but this fic is just... amazing.

The series is Loaded March by Footloose and it's seven titles at the moment. I'm only on the 4th story so I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's still an ongoing series. Still, the total count so far is about 330k which is far from shabby and so worth it.

I am in no way, shape of form a fan of military stories. To me, most of it goes over my head as I'm just not interested in the genre. But this story - set in modern times - is just... well I've spent all day reading it. It's so detailed and yet not bogged down at all and it just had everything you want (well, I want) in a story.

If you're looking to spend a couple of days doing nothing but immersing yourself into an amazing story and world, then I'd recommend that you give this series a chance. I'm enjoying this so much and just never want it to end!

It starts with: Radioman

Here's my fill for [livejournal.com profile] merlin_muses I had a lot of fun writing it :D

The title comes from folklore that the sparrow is a herald of death and to catch one is to defeat death itself.

Pairing: Arthur/Merlin
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Though he was chosen as sorcerer for Camelot’s court when Arthur became king, Merlin can’t trust in his abilities. Shifting into animals has never been accomplished before, but Merlin sets out to prove his worth to the kingdom, knowing that no kingdom, however great, can last with a gap between the two most powerful people in the land.
Warnings:  Mention of (mild) torture, very, very brief mention/suggestion of rape, death of minor character (opposing king).
Word Count: ~13,300

On a related note, AO3 beta looks really nice. It's all neat and looks lovely!

Finally starting my  [livejournal.com profile] 100k_supernova today. I'm hoping to get a good chunk of it done for NaNoWriMo (my name is Imperial Mint over there, feel free to be my writing buddy or whatever, we can struggle on through together!) and then have the motivation to finish it!

Been though about 100000 plot ideas for it and even when I'd decided it wouldn't work. The Polo-Merlin fic is probably going to become next year's big bang and the one I'm doing now is for a prompt on the [livejournal.com profile] kinkme_merlin. Won't say which one in case I change my mind...

Other than that I have a few other projects I'm just going to list.

-  [livejournal.com profile] merlin_holidays submission
- An AU of 4x05 in which Merlin gets captured
- Update & eventually finish a kmm fill I have going on

And that's it actually... okay not as bad as I thought! It's just finding the time/motivation to do them. That's the hard thing.

Pairings: Arthur/Merlin and a brief mention of Arthur/Gwen and Gwen/Lancelot.
Word Count: ~9000
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Contains spoilers for 4x04.. A dragon egg can remain unhatched for a thousand years, but it takes many more for a dragon to grow. This is the story of Aithusa from birth to the dawn of Albion as the white dragon to guide Camelot towards its golden age.
Notes:
After that ep? Had to be done! Hope you enjoy.

Summary: There was a story that Arthur Pendragon carried with him until the day he died. It was the story of a boy who chose to use his own magic against himself than let Uther’s men slaughter him where he stood. Now, years later, Arthur comes face-to-face with that very same boy, now a man, who is Arthur’s guide to finding the remaining three treasures of Britain and uniting the land of Albion from the deadly war she has sunk into.

Word Count: ~13,500 (also on A03)

Pairing: Arthur/Merlin

Rating: NC-17

Warnings: mention of sort-of-suicide, violence, war-scenario and mentioned torture, main character temporary death (think end of Pan’s Labyrinth, but happy A/M ending for them).

Film Prompt: Pan’s Labyrinth

Want to do something amazing and get something from it? Go check out [livejournal.com profile] fandomaid for Somalia. Go take a look around and see if anything takes your fancy.

I have an offer there and I'd love to do something else for this amazing project. Information below:

Offer: Fanfiction, length 3000-10,000 (will increase if bid goes higher)

Fandom/s: Merlin, Naruto

Bid Requirements: Start bid at $5.00

Won't Write: would prefer to write Merlin/Arthur for Merlin, but will do other pairings.

Additional Notes: There's nothing I won't do! The higher the bid, the longer the fic I'm willing to write, and anything over $20 will be given the option of a longer fic (thinking 17ishk+) or two (shorter) stories. Also willing to do other fandoms for a $30+ bid :)

The higher the bid, the longer I'll write for you! And even if you don't want to bid on me, take a look around all the other amazing people contributing. You can make a difference and get a gift other than knowing you've helped... why not? :)

Here it is! The beastie I've been moaning about for ages. Thank you to everyone who's listened to me whine and encouraged me, you have been such great helps!

Summary:
Future AU. After a seeing-stone washes up on the shores of Ealdor, the last Island left after the great floods and rising Ocean, Merlin sees their salvation - a Sky City named Camelot. When he wakes up on the shores of the Sky City, Merlin starts to realise the New World is nothing as it was fabled. It is then that Merlin begins his journey to meet the 'dragon' that called him there, realising that nothing in Camelot is what it seems. Together they begin a revolution against a blind king and the foundations the New World was built on, uncovering even deeper secrets that were thought to be buried with the Old World when the land sunk.

Word Count:
~140,000

Pairings:
Arthur/Merlin (with Balinor/Hunith and Uther/Ygraine)

Warnings:
Character death (mostly minor, but includes a known character who dies in canon and a child), torture, flooded-world scenario (&associated issues e.g. refugee camps, starvation etc.), sort-of-slavery, intoxication (leading to what some might consider dub-con, though it's not intended as such)

Rating
NC-17

Acknowledgements:
Because, honestly, this wouldn't be here without the wonderful people who helped me. You guys have no idea how grateful to you I am!
- My amazing cheerleader [livejournal.com profile] moonilicious who never once let me think about quitting and was always there when I needed her!
- My beta who is literally a saint. [livejournal.com profile] cutsycat stepped in 5 days before posting due to unforeseen problems, so any remaining errors are completely my own. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
- The background team of helpers who listened to me moan day in day out and didn't say a word. While it's a large list, the people who were there at the drop of a pin I need to give extra love - [livejournal.com profile] tx_minion and [livejournal.com profile] wovenwater
- To [livejournal.com profile] the_muppet for going above and beyond duty and making this an incredibly fun challenge! thank you!
And, finally...
- I need to say a massive, massive thank you to [livejournal.com profile] theywerecones for being both such a pleasure to work with and a fantastic artist. I couldn't have asked for half of what she's drawn for our story and honestly cannot thank her enough.
ART HERE!

This was an idea spawned from the book Exodus by Julie Bertagna. While it's deviated massively from the plot of the book, I still owe it a great deal.
